Findability vs Discoverability: What's the Difference?
Findability is a term for the ease with which information can be found. It means that users can easily find content or information they assume is present on a website. However, users rarely know all of the content on your website. A good knowledge management strategy also promotes discoverability, which involves making sure that new content or information can be found, even if the user(s) don’t know that it exists yet.
How can you help our mission?
I'm glad you asked. :) You can help by simply submitting your website, and any other cannabis related website to our directory.
What if the business doesn't have a website?
If the business does't have a website simply submit the link to the business from your search engine of choice (Google Search or Maps, Apple Maps, Yahoo, Bing, DuckDuckGo, etc) and fill out the business info section of the form. We will parse the search engines for data and create a business profile on our site.
What are we going to do with all those websites?
We will fetch the submitted sites, parse, organize and categorize the data. Then make it searchable for everyone to use. Ultimately we want to become a free resource that people use when they are looking for cannabis related businesses, products or services.
This project is in the early stages, but I have been developing configurable data fetchers and parsers for many years. I've built similar proof-of-concepts in the past and I am extremely excited to begin using these in an attempt to transform how people discover cannabis businesses on the internet.
This cannabis business directory is Phase 1 of this project and will be the traffic generator for Phase 2. Phase 2 will be an extension of this site to help small businesses growers and dispensaries break into the cannabis industry with a professional presence. I have spent countless hours contemplating and architecting a plan for this project.
About Me
I have been an enterprise web developer for over a decade. My tool of choice is Drupal, a world class, open source enterprise content management system (CMS). Drupal is used by many U.S. Government agencies, and companies like NCAA, WWE, Turner, Weather.com, Grammy.com, NBC and many, many more entities that need to manage large amounts of content.
I have a dream of owning a dispensary or a cannabis industry business and a leather shop when I retire and this is my first attempt at building the cannabis industry business. :) My goal for this site is to harvest data from main stream sites and restructure and architect the data in ways that the search spiders can't get enough of it.
